SeneDerm Skin Care – Oily

Settle in for another long post! I can’t speak highly enough about our skin care products, but because there’s so many options, I’m covering one a day! Yesterday we talked about the Oily to Acne line and some of my experiences with that. It makes sense to move into Normal to Oily next, because I swear by this line too!

I mentioned yesterday that I chose to switch from the Oily to Acne cleanser after I used one bottle. Don’t misunderstand me here, I LOVED the cleanser and it made my acne run for cover! I switched for one reason. The bottle is small. It’s different than the others in that it’s a foam with a pump dispenser, and I felt like it ran out quickly. I will ALWAYS recommend that if acne is your concern, you start with that cleanser for a kick start, then you can switch over if you choose to. I have seen continued improvement using the Normal to Oily cleanser with the rest of the acne line. As always, that’s your call.

Ok, switching to today’s topic! This 3-in-1 cleanser is amazing! Again, all of the 3-in-1 Cleansers are going to cleanse, tone, and hydrate your skin in one easy step! The Normal to Oily cleanser has small exfoliating particles that are gentle enough to use everyday, but still strong enough to be effective! My skin feels clean and healthy, without that dry angry feeling. It works with:

  • The wonderful SenePlex Complex, increasing cellular renewal
  • Volcanic Ash, a natural exfoliant to polish skin and stimulate circulation
  • Cone Flower Extract, an herb with microbial properties to increase collagen and viscosity
  • Matricaria Extract, an herb with anti-irritant, soothing, antioxidant properties
  • Lavender Oil, not only smells good but has major benefits! Its anti-bacterial, antiseptic, anti-fungal, AND regulates sebum production. Not just good for oily skin, those benefits can help everyone!
  • Orchid Flower Extract, an emollient that helps provide UV protection
  • Algae Extract hydrates, softens skin, and enhances the skin’s ability to repair itself
  • Vitamin E helps against premature aging, oxidation, and UV rays
  • Retinyl Palmitate increases skin elasticity, encourages natural exfoliation, and has been clinically proven to slow down skin aging and reduce wrinkle depth and pigmentations
  • Yeast Extract is a great source of folic acid and helps boost new cell formation
  • Synthetic Urea is a topic antiseptic, buffering agent, humectant, and skin conditioner. (I want to take a quick moment to address a rumor I saw swirling. Urea does NOT equal urine. This is a synthetic moisturizer that is VERY common in cosmetics. Not pee. Don’t let people try to convince you otherwise. I would NOT put urine on my face twice a day no matter what qualities you tried to tell me it had. Not the same. Cool?)
  • Glucosamine HCL, super good for you and the body’s ability to make collagen
  • Sodium Hyaluronate is a humectant about 100x more effective than Glycerin
  • Triethanolamine is a surfactant. That means it’s going to lower water’s surface tension and allow the product to spread more easily and is used in mild products

DayTime Moisturizer

A good moisturizer for oily skin will give the moisture needed without overclogging the pores or adding extra oil. Your skin already has that covered. This product will help to “reprogram” the skin and control sebum production (the gunk in blackheads). It’s going to help balance your skin and protect from the elements with:

  • Our beloved SenePlex Complex, increasing cellular renewal (wonder how many times I can rephrase that before I sound like a broken record?)
  • Jojoba Seed Oil that acts as a moisturizer and improves elasticity
  • Aloe Vera for moisturizing, soothing, and healing
  • Algae Extract hydrates, softens skin, and enhances the skin’s ability to repair itself
  • Orchid Flower Extract, an emollient that helps provide UV protection
  • Capric Triglyceride, acting as the base for the product, made from coconut oil
  • Panthenol, a Vitamin B complex essential to formation of new tissues (remember how awesome we said Vitamin B was? It’s busy fighting acne AND wrinkles!)
  • Vitamin E helps against premature aging, oxidation, and UV rays
  • Retinyl Palmitate increases skin elasticity, see above
  • Lecithin, plant based, protects cells from oxidation
  • Yeast Extract is a great source of folic acid and helps boost new cell formation
  • Squalene deactivates free radicals (singlet oxygen), absorbs fat-soluble toxins and helps to remove them, can soften fine lines, soothe irritated skin, and create a barrier to protect your skin
  • Plankton Extract has a light activated enzyme that helps skin recover from sun damage
  • Octyl Methoxycinnamate is used to protect from UV rays and reduce the appearance of scars (it also stumps spell check!)
  • Galactarabinan decreases emulsion particle size, so it’s easier for your skin to absorb nutrients
  • Glucosamine HCL, super good for you and the body’s ability to make collagen
  • Synthetic Urea, see above benefits AND SUPER IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER
  • Allatoin, an anti-irritant
  • Sodium Hyaluronate is a humectant about 100x more effective than Glycerin

Evening Moisturizer

As the last part of the three part system, the evening moisturizer helps discourage the skin from making excess oily and sebum. I think this is an important point to keep making. It’s NOT stripping the skin of all oil. When you do that, your skin is pretty sure it needs to make MORE because it didn’t make enough last time! That’s why some products will leave your skin feeling even greasier once it recovers from the shock! This SeneDerm moisturizer finds the right balance with botanicals from Vanuatu and:

  • SenePlex Complex, woohoo, it’s amazing!
  • Borago Seed Oil helps to soothe and reduce reddening while promoting skin growth, also anti-inflammatory and acts and a hormonal balancer
  • Sesame Seed Oil is naturally antiviral and anti-inflammatory with skin conditioning agents
  • Jojoba Seed Oil that acts as a moisturizer and improves elasticity
  • Avocado Seed Oil is rich in anti-oxidants like Vitamin A and E, helps soothe and nurture skin
  • Capric Triglyceride, acting as the base for the product, made from coconut oil
  • Algae Extract hydrates, softens skin, and enhances the skin’s ability to repair itself
  • Yeast Extract is a great source of folic acid and helps boost new cell formation
  • Orchid Flower Extract, an emollient that helps provide UV protection
  • Vitamin E helps against premature aging, oxidation, and UV rays
  • Retinyl Palmitate increases skin elasticity, see above
  • Synthetic Urea, see above benefits AND SUPER IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER
  • Glucosamine HCL, super good for you and the body’s ability to make collagen
  • Caprylic Trigylceride is a plant derived emollient
  • Sodium Hyaluronate is a humectant about 100x more effective than Glycerin

Natural Skincare

These posts are very different than the general info posts I’ve done before. What do we think? Too science-y? Good science-y? I think it’s super important to know the ingredients in your products, whether they come from me or some other brand! Even though some of the definitions we’ve shared are super hard to pronounce, SeneGence products are 98% natural, 2% science! There are two more skin care lines to go over and I can’t wait to share them with you!
